Stone Setting– Intermediate/Advanced

Gems and other stones can be a beautiful and colourful addition to you metal clay jewellery. They can become a focal point or add an interesting accent to a simple design.

During the two day workshop we cover options and solutions for stone setting methods for both fireable gems and non fireable flat back cabochons.

On day one we will start with faceted gem stones with your tutor giving demonstrations on the options of setting these in metal clay. You will then have time to design a project and make a piece of your own. You will have the full support of our tutor as you progress.

Day two will start with a tutor demonstration on the several solutions to setting flat back cabochons. Once again you will have time to design and make your own piece. You will be supported all the way through your project to completion.

You are welcome to bring your own gems or cabochons, but Craftworx will have a few extras if you need to buy any. These will be charged as extra.

You will be supplied with 40g of clay for the two days which will be plenty to make several pieces. However if you wish to make larger projects, additional clay will be available to purchase from the studio.
