Do you want to make something colourful and fun? In this workshop you'll make your own unique silver pendant with little sculpted pieces of decoration and your choice of bail design (don't worry, we'll cover a few different options, you're sure to like one of them). Of course we'll be decorating the backs of the pieces too, and yours might even be a reversible pendant.

Once it's fired you'll create the outline of your little character using Joy's Enamelled Accents technique of free standing cloisonné, and then enamel it. Will you go for super colourful or more restrained? If you're really not into making cute characters you could always make flowers, or maybe an abstract design, or perhaps you have another idea???

What is for sure is that this will be a joyful, happy workshop! Whether you are new to enamelling or have enamelled before, learning how to add Enamelled Accents will open up a whole range of possibilities for you, and there'll be lots of tips including how to get a really great finish on your silver pieces and how to get lovely clear transparent enamels.

Joy Funnell

“I love colours and I love textures! These two things inspire most of my work. Having started out with traditional jewellery techniques and materials my first encounter with silver clay changed my life. I am passionate about using it and combining it with enamel. I hope I can share the magic with you.”

Joy lives and works in Hastings, East Sussex, UK, and is known for her colourful enamel and silver work.  She was making jewellery for many years as a hobby before she encountered silver clay in 2005 and was hooked. Within a year she trained up to Senior Art Clay Instructor, gave up the day job and leapt into a full time career as a jewellery artisan. In 2009 she was awarded Craftsman status with the Guild of Enamellers.

Joy teaches from her base, as well as nationally and internationally, and has taught at various metal clay and enamelling conferences around the world. Her award winning work has been featured in many magazines and publications. She sells her work online and at fairs.
