Introduction to Sterling Silver - Traditional Metal Smithing Skills - Beginners
Learning some of the basic essential metal smithing foundation techniques will add a new and deeper range to your knowledge in the development of your jewellery making skills.
For those with metal clay experience, these skills really compliment your metal clay technique as well.
This workshop is aimed at the beginner with little or no experience of any jewellery making skills. During the day you will be guided through the step by step techniques of sawing, shaping, adding patterns or texture. We will work to make a ring, a pair of earrings and a chain bracelet with your own made clasp fastening.
Included in the day:-

introduce the tools and equipment, what alternatives are suitable

drafting and transferring your design onto silver sheet

sawing using a jewellers saw

adding texture, form and shape

construction and layering
-
creating holes
-
soldering
-
polishing and finishing
Materials will be supplied for the project tasks. If you require additional materials to make additional or larger pieces, you can purchase extra silver on the day from the studio.
