Certification Courses (ACWUK)

Our certification courses are based on the curriculum developed in Japan by Aida Chemicals. These are world wide recognised courses supported by Art Clay Guild UK. The programme requires that you have previous experience working with metal clay so you have the foundation skills and understand the processes involved.

Our tutor will give hands on demonstrations of each project task, with step by step instructions to support you throughout the course.

Each piece is graded and marked and a full assessment of your progress is provided.

Craftworx will offer you a choice of four options for each project task taken from the basic originals, the arrangements, the men’s or sweets projects.

The Level 1 Course; 13-15 Jun 2012

This intensive three day course covers seven set projects to demonstrate different skills and techniques in working with silver clay.

The projects include a stone setting in a ring, using paste for the leaf project and a brooch with stone settings. Two projects demonstrate your control of a syringe, attaching various findings and settings for stones.

Following the course and the successful completion of each project task to the required standards, your tutor will submit you paperwork in order to issue your certificate. After you have received your certificate, you will be entitled to claim a discount on your Art Clay products from any of the official suppliers and you will also be able to teach introductory classes.

Included in the course fees are the materials to complete each project task, your certification fee, and the Art Clay basic book.

After a minimum time period of 6 months you can progress onto the Level Two Certificate. THIS IS A COMPULSORY REQUIREMENT OF THE ART CLAY GUILD. Our tutor will offer free advice on what preparations you can make.

The Level 2 Course; 18-21 Apr 2012, 19-22 Nov 2012

This course has two parts to completion - the course and the submission of the assessment task.

The Level Two Course

This is an intensive four day course that will measure your skills and techniques in working with Art Clay Silver to the highest standards. Your tutor will demonstrate, step by step, each of the project tasks.

Projects include

• A ring with a carved design
• A tie pin with a natural cabochon bezel stone setting
• A brooch with multiple stone setting
• A pendant with gold keum boo enhancement
• A glass and syringe project

Each project will be graded and marked and assessed by your tutor. On successful completion of all the project tasks, you can then progress onto the assessment tasks.

The course fees include all course materials and the Art Clay advanced book.

The Assessment Tasks

Following the course you will be given 90 days to submit three pieces of your own design. However these must meet specific criteria. This is your opportunity to develop and showcase your skills in design and techniques to produce three pieces for assessment.

Your tutor will offer free advice and guidance on what is required for these projects. Please note additional fees will apply for submission of your assessment projects.

On successful completion of the Level Two assessments and issue of your certificate you will be able to teach Art Clay Certification Level 1 & 2.
