Silver Clay Beads and Hollow Forms - Intermediate

This workshop goes beyond simply creating silver beads. The technical skills include construction methods of the various shapes and forms in creating hollow forms in fine silver that does not use Cork clay.

These simple yet clever methods to create some of these shapes will leave you amazed. Also included in the workshop are the alternative methods for creating seamless textures onto 3 dimensional objects such as creating positive and negative impressions, etching, and stencilling.

The workshop will start with a tutor demonstration on how to create the basic bead shapes, such as flat bead, lentil bead, tubular beads. These can go beyond just being simple beads eg. the tubular bead can integrate into a pendant to hang the piece from.

Following the tutor demonstration, you will be encouraged to try your hand at some of these techniques. In the afternoon we will progress onto the more complex structures, such as pillow beads, bicone beads and perfect round beads. For the more adventurous, you can start experimenting with different shapes and textures.

This class will appeal to anyone undergoing the Masters’ Registry Programme as I share all of the hints and tips to create these perfect hollow forms for the first two projects in the programme.

30g of clay will be provided. This will be enough to make two large or three smaller project pieces. If you want to make larger pieces or more than two pieces, then extra clay can be purchased on the day.
